No One Can Do It Alone

The importance of networking is often overlooked by many. Entrepreneurs, sometimes, tend to think that they choose this pathway to not work for or with anyone. They like this sense of independence. That was my case at least. However, what no one tells you is that you will never be able to build something great alone.

Our article on who you should start a venture with emphasizes the importance of surrounding yourself with the (right) people who will make you succeed or at least get the most out of your entrepreneurial journey.

So, let’s come back to the topic. “Your network is your net worth”. The title of the book from Porter Gale (2013) speaks volumes about the importance of connections in an entrepreneurial environment. We believe at Spark Lund that one of the best starting points to build a relevant network for your venture is joining events. Events provide the opportunity to meet new people, share insights and ideas with them, and mingle before, during, and after the meeting.

Knowing the importance of networking at Spark Lund, we organized an event on February 22nd, 2022 to kick off our entrepreneurial coaching service. While raising the awareness of our organization, sharing insights about entrepreneurship, and inspiring people with others’ entrepreneurial journeys, we also wanted to give students the opportunity to mingle and get to know each other. Our goal was to share different ideas, perspectives and potentially meet individuals, who could provide resources to develop your project. During our launch event, we saw exactly that. People introduced themselves to others, shared ideas, encouraged discussion, and tried to help each other. Because, once again, no one can do it alone. If you missed the opportunity to join us, stay tuned for our next event, and don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

In the meantime, here is a short overview of the main takeaways of our last event:

Starting a venture and stepping into the entrepreneurial world requires courage. Therefore seeking advice and inspiration from people who decided to take this path before us may be a good idea.

Craig Mitchell, program director of the master in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Lund University: Spark Lund inspires and supports students who may be lost or intimidated to take the first steps of their entrepreneurial journey

Inspirational speech, Mitko Dimitrov (web3adventures): Don’t shy away from taking risks and starting a venture while being at the university. This is actually a great opportunity as you often don’t have constraints such as you may get later in your professional career. In other words, make mistakes while you have time. You are here to learn after all. In the end, everything you undertake will pay off in one way or another.

Inspirational speech, Evelise Biviatello (team lead at KAYAK & Momondo): Evelise emphasized the importance of having a good team (something Spark Lund also explained in a previous article). Moreover, entrepreneurial skills are learnings that will stay and be useful for the rest of your life.

Inspirational speech, Kirill Noskov (founder & CEO of IAMRUNBOX): Finding and explaining the core of your business is fundamental. Kirill puts sustainability at the center of his successful venture and articulates decisions around this value.

Best,

Team Spark
